Turnbow Prosthetics, a startup founded by brothers Kent and Kevin Turnbow, specializes in the end-user-fitting of a full range of prosthetics for amputee patients. Turnbow not only custom fits a prosthetic to a patients height and weight but the process includes the creation of a form fitted carbon fiber sleeve molded after the patients remaining extremity. This process necessitates the heating of the plastics used to mold these sleeves in a high temperature oven.
80/20 was invited to solve their needs of elevating their oven to a custom height, while maintaining requirements such as open air ventilation on the bottom, securely mounting the oven to the frame and the ability adjust the leveling as needed.
"I had looked up the price of a stand from the supplier that had the oven, and it was quite a bit more." says Kent Turnbow "The 80/20 was a third of the cost and we had it built in a couple days."
Turnbow went on to state that even though the project wasn't large or elaborate, his first experience with 80/20 was great and plans on using more 80/20 solutions as his company grows and expands.
